Yu-Chen was awarded The Boeing Fellowship for his PhD study and he received the Boeing Outstanding Research Award. His PhD research focused on the theory of random perturbations of dynamical systems and statistical ensemble theory with applications of biology and biophysics. Since he had a longstanding interest in mathematics and mechanistic modeling in medicine, he then studied Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington, Seattle and obtained his PhD under the guidance of Dr. Yu-Chen received his MD at Taipei Medical University in Taiwan.
